Digital High Definition Television Set-top Box Software Technology Research And Application Development

Based on the ST HDTV evaluation board and the ST20 embedded toolset ,this paper studies the software technologies and software development of digital Set-Top box(STB) . Real-Time Kernel is very important in the whole software system and it is the basis of developing user-level applications, so firstly the principle of STLite/OS20 real-time kernel and its application is discussed. EPG is an unique feature of digital TV, so the design and implementation of EPG an very important part of STB software system, considering the there is no normative approach to implementation Electronic Program Guide and our Set-Top-Box aims to DVB-C, an EPG scheme base on DVB-SI is proposed, and the related data structures and operations to implement this scheme are detailed. Providing a perfect human-machine interactive interface is one goal of system design, this paper also discussed the implementation of user interface subsystem of our digital set-top-box system, especially the design of system architecture and OSD graphic library based on Sti7000 OSD unit.At the same time, the ST HDTV evaluation board and its hardware and software architecture, the ST20 embedded tool set and the debug of the system software are also briefly introduced in this paper.
