With the development of information technology, the traditional analog television will gradually be replaced by digital television, and the high-definition digital television will be the future direction of development. High-definition digital TV set-top-box receives high-definition digital television signals and makes output to various digital or simulated monitor, this will be the main way of users enjoy high-definition television programs. In addition, high-definition digital TV set-top-box also provides a wealth of additional functions, such as TV shopping, Internet surfing, HDTV video-on-demand, IPTV, IP phone, games and so on, which will be the multimedia entertainment centers of a family. So the high-definition digital TV set-top-box will be the hot spot of new generation consumer electronics, and must has a huge market. It has been the hot spot of researching.However, high-definition digital television is a complex system, which includes recording of high-definition digital television programs, coding, modulation and transmission, receiving and demodulation, decoding and displaying key technologies. Currently, high-definition digital television has not yet fully mature, only a few pilot projects have been developed in some developed countries. Simultaneously, a variety of high-definition digital television standards appeared, such as MPEG-II, H.264. Some other countries are also developing their own standards. Therefore, it is necessary for us to further in-depth study. Under this situation, this article selects the high-definition digital TV Set-Top-Box to do further study, and then builds a DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting) -C (Cable) standard high-definition digital TV set-top-box based on embedding system. The main content of this research are as follows:1. The architecture of embedded system is deeply researched, then according to the system demands, this paper builds the hardware platform which is based on the advanced digital multimedia processor EM8620L. On this basis, this paper uses the embedded Linux2.4 operating system and various board support drivers to build the software platform.2. The architecture of high-definition digital TV system, the related technology and protocols are deeply researched. Based on the embedded system platform, this paper designs a high-definition digital television set-top-box, and detailedly explains the whole process of design and implementation of the front-end receiving module and the de-multiplexing module.3. In view of the characteristics of the system, we fully take account of the flexibility and independence, making the system easily expanded to support other standards, such as -T (Terrestrial), - S (Satellite) standard. In the process of design and implementation, we optimize the data structure and the control flow to improve the efficiency and stability.The high-definition digital TV set-top-box receives the high-definition television signal which is produced by the signal generator well, and has a faster speed of scanning programs and better playing quality. It has good prospects.
