China's Book Distribution Industry Supply Chain Management Model Research And Analysis

Books distribution industry is quite special in our country and for its characteristics in ideology it used to possess a heavy hue of planning economy. In recent years, however, with reforms and developments in publishing industry and the industrialization of literature, there have been new achievements in its development ideology, management thought and business patterns, etc, thus the distribution industry is gradually removed of its fixed out-of-date thinking. And supply chain management, a new management concept and pattern that is fairly attractive home and abroad, plays a magnificent role in the reshuffle of business pattern of distribution industry.The simplest mode of the supply chain of distribution is from publishing companies to distribution merchants to retailers and consumers. Distribution merchants and provincial Xinhua Bookstores from Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai and Chongqing take the most part of this field. And in the field of retailing, Xinhua Bookstores dominate the market in an absolute manner. Since the 1980s, planning economy has been transferred to market economy, and books distribution lines have experienced obvious changes. Owing to policy problems, the number of publishing merchants has seen a little increase, while the distributors have grown by leaps and bounds, promoting the formation of classification between agents and retailers. Besides Xinhua Bookstores, private sales merchants, professional sales institutes, printing house sales merchants, other state-owned bookstores, non-bookstore retailing stores, bookstores online, and many other sales patterns with no fixed counters have all attained great development. Therefore, there has been a complicated network in distribution industry, which is experiencing an exploring period at present.This paper intends to state the relevant theories of supply chain management analyze the present situation of distribution industry in our country and finally point out the main existing problems. In addition, through the analysis of distribution experience and practice from abroad, it provides suggestions to the establishment of our own supply chain management mode. At the end of the paper is a detailed and special discussion of information standardization in the supply chain management of distribution industry.
