With the background of the rising of Chinese private businessmen, this thesis is focused on investigating how different media figure the image of the new and developing social stratum, recording the lives of these new-richers, and defining their position in the social structure. With all these materials, the author try to study the ideological words behind these reporting, analyze the narrating strategy, and explain the interacting relationship among media, the ideology they separately represent and the maturing of the new-richers.Love Marriage Family, San Lian Life Week, this thesis mainly chose these two agazines to study how media report the image of new-richers by content analyzing. Research finds that mass/citizen media's rigid impression toward the new-richers was overturned, and the rewriting of pioneer idol shows that the masses' understanding toward this stratum has changed a lot. While essece/intellectual media plays an important part in shaping the new-richers' recognition of identity by describing bourgeoisie's life style and imaging their anecdotes, life, values, ideal and consuming concept, especially the writing of consumption idol appears at the same time.This thesis also studies the reports about the relationship between the poor and the rich made by People Daily, Yantse Evening, etc. Media's working strategy in reading social strata's relationships was studied under the way of ideology criticism. It is pointed out that one of the media's important functions in social structure is to give meaning to social truth, thus to make it legal and rational.
