This paper stressed on the design and research of a high speed analog-digital mixed MCM (Multi-chip module), which is used in a 500MHz DSO (Digital Oscilloscope). Through analyzing the system function and critical parameter of this MCM, SI(signal integrity) and EMC(electromagnetic compatibility) are given special focus through the whole design. Based on the trade-off of SI, EMC, area, power and heat requirements, a double-sides , six layers laminated MCM with full metal package is presented for this 500MHz mix-signal microsystem. The critical transmission lines on the board are simulated by SpecctraQuest and a series of SI design rules are provided. Furthermore, the mensurability of this MCM is also discussed and a advanced measuring systems have been presented in this paper. The main contribution of this paper is to give a series of solutions for EMC problems from two sides: reduce difference radiation from the high speed board and cut off the transmission way by electromagnetic shielding. By using wave-guide, rectangular cavity resonator, Hertzian electric dipole antenna models, pins and holes in the metal package are investigated with the goal of improving the electromagnetic shielding efficiency of this package. A series of EMC design rules have also been given according to above calculation.
