The RF signal generator is one of popular instrument that widely used in testand measurement now. It can simulate carrier wave of different frequency in thedomain of communications, radar, navigation and astrionics etc. With thedevelopment of test system based on the CompactPCI bus, It desires to develop theRF signal generator module of CPCI bus.On the basis of many technological reference books and CPCI busspecifications, this thesis makes discussion and analysis of the whole scheme. Itanalyzes some key techniques in developing the module and gives solutions. Thekey technologies of DDS based on the FPGA and frequency synthesis by phase lockare discussed explicitly. This thesis, too, introduces Virtual Instrument SoftwareArchitecture software library that is independent of physical instruments interface.How developing a driver of CPCI device is illustrated. Then with respect to theproblems in debugging and testing process, the thesis makes analysis of the reasonsand presents the practical solutions. In the end, this thesis discusses the verificationand application of the RF signal generator module. As can be seen from actual testand application, the RF signal generator module is designed reasonedly and satisfiesall the performance.
