Mobile agent has raised considerable interest for networked computing. How to implement migration is one of its key technologies.Firstly, agent, soft agent, mobile agent and their characteristic are discussed, fonnalizations of them are given. Secondly, the important technologies of mobile agent's implementation are sumed up, such as communication, security, programming language, coordination models, ect. Finally, the advantages of mobile agent are described. And the mobility of mobile agent is compared with that of other code migration technology.Transport protocol is important to implementation of mobile agent's mobility. In this thesis, ATP is explained, the transport method based on HTTP is presented, and how to encapulate the agent in a MIME-like message is shown.Migration mechanism is about implementation pattern of mobile agent mobilty. A kind of structural migration mechanism presented in this thesis uses itinerary as its core. Its characteristic is that mobile information can be separated from function body of agent, and can be loaded dynamically. In addition, A conception of optional migration mechanism, a quantitative analysis of the influence traditional and a optional migration mechanism upon network load are shown in detail also.Migration strategy ensures mobile agent to complete its task correctly and efficiently at the minimum cost. In this thesis, a descriptive class of Agent's dynamic routing is presented and the arithmetic of the routing is generalized.Strong mobility of mobile agent is a difficulty, and moreover, running program's state catching and resuming are key technology of strong mobility. The exception mechanism of JVM is used to catch Java pragram state.
