With the development of the network, on which the data load is continuously increasing, the traditional C/S model involves more and more problems recently, e.g. the lack of flexibility of the model, the load unbalance of the network and the waste of resource due to the necessity of keeping communication between the server and the clients. To overcome these shortcomings of the present C/S model, the Mobile Agent technique was exploited, which is underlied by the novel techniques of network, communication and distributed system. Mobile agent is a combination of the agent technique and the distributed computing. It is a program capable of transmitting from a host computer to another independently as well as communicating with other agents; The mobile agent reduces the dependence on the network bandwidth by avoiding to transmit a large amount of transient data on the network when transferring the service request to the server; it needs no uniform scheduling, and the agent created by the user can run asynchronously on different nodes and convey the outcome to the user when the whole task is finished. This thesis will focus on the following two aspects.(1) Firstly, to propose the conception and the definition of the mobile agent and a general explain on the mobile model, communication model and the architecture of Aglet. Then to analyze in detail the Aglet API package, Aglet's working platform and its application paradigm.(2) To design and realize a ticket service system based on the mobile agent technique. The deficiency of the existing Ticket-Business Inquiring System (TBIS) is pointed out, firstly, and a new TBIS is then proposed on the basis of the new agent technology. The new TBIS is composed of a group of concurrent static agents, mobile agents and mobile agent servers. In this system, every agent represents each individual entity and takes part in communication, by which, the differences between each heterogeneous entity isscreened so that the semantic consistency is kept. The TBIS amalgamates the distributed information resources into an organic integer, letting users search out ticket business information more conveniently and more rapidly and making it possible to use information resources on Internet more efficiently. The thesis will be organized as follows.Chapter 1: Introduction. The conception , definition, characteristics and classification of the agent (and also the multi-agent system) are analyzed in general.Chapter 2: Mobile agent and its application. The conception of the mobile agent, mobile model and communication model are analyzed in detail. Meanwhile, the program design, application on software engineering and network management of the mobile agent technique are researched.Chapter 3: Aglet architecture. The Aglet architecture, Aglet API package and Aglet's working platform are explained in detail, and an Aglet application diagram is also described.Chapter 4: Realization of a ticket service system. Aglet, a very key Agent platform, is firstly described in the beginning of this chapter. Based on what, a ticket-business system is then implemented. The devised brand new TBIS has lots extreme excellence including flexibility, bandwidth saving, asynchronism supporting> scalability and adaptability to dynamic change of the system architecture and so forth.Chapter 5: Agent in the future. The current implementation of the self-determination of the agent has been oppugned based on the researches and thinking on it. The life science is introduced to the computer science by a system theory way. A new implementation of the self-determination method is guessed. The author believes that that the self-determination of the agent will be improved greatly based on the fruitful progresses of life science.
