Mobile agent is a kind of distributed computing paradigm, it aroused some research workers' attention. Mobile agent is a kind of software that can run independent in the network. It could move from one node to the other in the heterogeneous network. Mobile agent would ensure the consistency of program execution and there are many advantages such as self-adapting, responsibilities, activities, communications, and mobility. Upon these advantages, this technique will have a good future in distributive and mobile net environment. For instance, it could be used into distributive information searches, remote control, workflow management and co-operation, telnet management, active network, mobile computation, and e-business, etc.According to nowadays researching of mobile agent, this paper mainly analysis the migration mechanisms and migration strategies of mobile agent system. First, introduce concept, feature, catalog and structure of agent and mobile agent. Second, starting from comprehension of mobile and observing the mobile progress of mobile agent, then introduce the migration mechanisms and migration strategies of mobile agent system. Two migration strategies were expounded mostly. The author analyses their advantages, shortages and the environments. So was the learning of migration strategies mention. Then designed mobile Agent under the platform aglets environment to carry on the experiment of the migration, and tested their efficiencies of three migration strategies.Ending was about the paper' s guideline and mentioned some questions of mobile technique, which needed to be, studied further more. That is the direction on future working.
