Computer Network acts a more and more important role in the various fields of society. Along with the expanding of network dimension and the complicating of architecture and the growing number of applications and services depend upon it, in order to ensure the high efficiency and soundness runing of computer network and each service ,it has become a indispensable precondition that we must manage computer network devices and servers groups efficiently.Now SNMP has been the industrial standard for manaement computer network based TCP/IP. In this paper, the author studys and brings forwrad the model of computer network managerment based SNMP including the runing procedure of SNMP and the architacture of Management information base(MIB). Having above foundation, with the backgroud of the practice of campus network project, after analysing the requirement of network management, the author gives the design of network monitor and management system based SNMP. The main ideas of this system as fllowing:1. Completing the function of seeking the dynamic topological and supervision about all devices in the network and the interlinkage and access states of every terminal.2. Positively supervising all servers such as www servers and mail servers and all other key hosts in the system.3. Whole management the IP address resource in the network including the static assign IP address , supervising and recording the status of dynamic IP address.4. To master the whole information about the state of network, we integrate and reorganize the dynamic supervising information with the static information of the network line distributing , the connection among devices .5. With the WEB work mode , it is very convenient for the managers to manage and access the devices whenever and whereever.The key items being hard studed in this paper include the technique of SNMP, the arithmetic and realization of topologic discovery and the supervision about servers , etc. With the foundation of realizing SNMP technique, the author realized the functions such as the topologic discovery about network and the supervision about servers essentially.
