Research And Application Of Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) On Campus Network Management

With the development of network application, the complexion of network is increasing, so the effect of network management has become more and more important, and has become a necessary means of network running normally and efficiently. Simple network management protocol (SNMP) has become a network management framework because of its simplicity, flexibility and inter-operation.In this paper, we analyzed network management based on SNMP protocol on network campus, and studied the position and methods of SNMP in implementing various kinds of functions of network management. At first, this paper briefly introduced the basic concepts, architecture and basic functions of network management, and then we analyzed the composition and principle of SNMP management framework. Then we mainly discussed the procedure of network topology discovering and described pseudo code of discovering algorithm accordingly. In the end, this paper sum up the future trend of network management.
