In this paper, explored the status of the network management. Design a scalable network management system, it includes two main modules. First, network topology discovery module. In this module, a Routing table based topology discovery algorithm is brought forward. Second, performance management modules. Through the collecting, storaging and analysising parameters about netword devices, not only can get the real-time status, but also can adjust the configuration of equipment base on these information, make the overall performance of the network become more reasonable.During the development process, the major job as follows:First of all, reading books and searching informations about network management, mastering the technology about implementing the network management system. Identified the entry point and cleared the functions of this system, completed the demand document.Second, designed the prototype system, established the function models. Make up the overall framework of this system.Finally, began to realize this system, coding, debugging, and write the handbook.
