The research of the dissertation is part of the project of "The Research of Control Strategy in Reconfigurable Computing", sponsored by National Science Foundation of China.Reconfigurable computing has become a subject of a great deal of research. Its key feature is the ability to have high performance of special-purpose processors, while retaining much of the flexibility of general-purpose processors. At present, the research productions of reconfigurable computing are basically composed of FPGA and general-purpose processor. And the complicated computations will be disposed within FPGA.There are many encryption algorithms. Even for one algorithm, RSA, for example, the architectures of different modular length RSA are not same. The dissertation focuses on the research and design of the reconfiguration in the encryption application using FPGA.According to the research, the major work done is as following: <1> Analyzes the symmetric-key encryption algorithm DES and dissymmetric-key encryption algorithm RSA, and makes them easy to realize in hardware.<2> According to the algorithms and the thought of reconfigurable computing, the dissertation accomplishes the design of 64-bit DES system architecture and the design of 256-bit~1024-bit RSA system architecture.<3> Using the Top-Down high level design methodology and the HDL language, accomplishes the description of the DES/RSA designs, the simulation and the synthesis.<4> validates the designs of DES/RSA on the reconfigurable system test board, and discusses the further optimized approach of the designs. The research results will be contributive to the Reconfigurable Computing Research in the field of encryption application of our nat ion.
