Computer Network Technology And Its Applications

As the prevalence of computer network, people come to rely on network more than before. In the conditions of current technological level, people hope that network can be more stable and reliable. Computer network management system is developed for the requirement. The system manages the devices on network by monitoring and controlling them, and informs the state of network to managers, and makes it easy to deal with the faults, so that it can reduce the lost caused by the failure of networks, improve the quality of services and increase efficiency. In our country, the importance of network management been realized by people now.At first , NMS's history, status quo and correlative basic knowledge is introduced in this paper. Following, the computer network management protocol is expatiated, which as Simple Network Management Protocol, and explains how to manage network. Subsequently, based on the development of NpuKinva NMS, two important technologies, which are Web-Based Management and arithmetic on auto-finding network's topological structure, are discussed in detail.Web-Based Management, WBM in short, is a kind of new tri-layer architecture. Manager can monitor and control network's state conveniently and flexibly by using WBM, and this technology can also bring good performance and expandability to NMS. The implement of the arithmetic is also described particularly in the paper. The original arithmetic is based on SNMP, which is fine in finding network's main topological structure, but not well in getting a full one of a subnet. So, a way based on ICMP is putted forward to solve this problem for achieving the full one.Lastly, the tendency of NMS in future is disserted. In the technological point, it thinks that distributed NMS can be fitter for the future's network environment and will be important. In the system's point, NMS will be a part of a whole network solution, not only exist as an independent system.
