This thesis gives a case study on integrating the development of enterprise information system with the management transformation for the leverage of the competitive advantage.After reviewing some different MISes of domestic publishing houses, this thesis focuses on the ERP/SAP of Higher Education Press (HEP) and analyzes some themes on the system's selecting, planning, implementing and applying. The goal of the research is to seek for how ERP systems reengineer the business of publishing and improve the management of a press.Part One gives a brief introduction of ERP's history and its application in American and European publishing companies. Then the thesis gives a discussion on IT constructions and MIS for publishing business in China's media industry. The author gave a reasonable analysis on the failures of MIS application in past years.Part Two gives a detailed description on implementation of HEP/SAP, including the system's demonstration, planning, design and operation. In this part, the thesis provides the milestone of the project, the manage team of the program and the first-step's goal of the HEP/SAP. The author also analyzes an important module of HEP/SAP-Project System, which has improved the editing work flow of HEP.The third part gives a total evaluation on the application of ERP from a managing point, such as how the business process is reengineered and operated in SAP system and how to sort out and shift the data and integrate the information system and business process..The last part draws a series of conclusions from the HEP/SAP and gives some suggestions on implementation of ERP in media industry rationally.
