As the most crucial technique that apply in electronic system, high performance frequency synthesizer is absolutely necessarily technique that ensure modern electronic system such as radar and communication system to achieve high performance, so design high performance frequency synthesizer is very important research field.In this paper, a PLL frequency synthesizer working in L band is researched. At fist, we review the basic of phase lock loop and it's constituent part. After that the basic conception and design method of PLL frequency synthesizer was introduced, especially introduced the charge pump PLL frequency synthesizer in detail. by reason of VCO determine the outside band phase noise of synthesizer, design a high performance VCO is the crucial constituent part of this paper, basic conception of VCO and the method that using EDA tools to design VCO was introduced in detail. After that , the EDA design result and the real test result of VCO was provided. Finally introduced the method that use ADF4113 and provied the real test result of this multi-frequency, low phase noise PLL frequency synthesizer with 30MHz working band and 1MHz frequency step. in addition, some method that solved the problem often occurred was introduced.
