With the rapid development of computer and network technology, Internet is being applied more and more widely into various fields. Internet based Remote Mechatronic Control System(ReMCS) will therefore create a new future for traditional mechatrnic control area and will greatly accelerate the development of mechatronic control technology.First of all, this paper gives a review on the history of mechatronic control system and the current researches on the related area and analyzes the similarities and differences between Internet based ReMCS and traditional mechatronic control system. The thesis puts forward some models of ReMCS and makes researches on these models. Then, the paper mainly focuses on the data flow in the Internet based ReMCS from the aspects of data acquisition, data exchange and data transmission. Data acquisition techniques are investigated and data exchange between monitoring terminals and between monitoring terminals and online control. To the paper then brings forward a communication model of Internet based ReMCS which uses B/S model. Afterwards, the paper investigates some key technologies including time delay, system security and data communication in system implementing and suggests that time delay problem could be solved through reducing the amount of data flow in the Internet by using ActiveX to encapsulate the client program by realizing communication between browser and client controlling program.. And the paper also gives a suggestion that the security problems be resolved through Security Socket Layer (SSL), etc. Finally, the paper makes a case study on the controlling system to build the Infranet at the steel-making workshop at Orient Steel Co. based on a subsystem-monitoring platform for the steel-making facilities designed by the author by using a ControlLogix PLC of Rockwell company and IFIX of Intellution company. The paper has developed a Internet based remote controlling system for the steel-making workshop, and made a systematical analysis and investigation on the application of the designed system. The system designed in the paper is proved to be feasible through some applications of the system.
