With the development of Internet/Intranet technology and computer science, the globalization and automation is becoming a necessary trend of mechatronic control industry. Internet based remote mechatronic control system is one of the most important techniques in the area of mechatronic control. This Thesis conducts researches on the Internet based remote mechatronic control system in consequence of this development trend. CORBA technology is applied to solve the problem in the communication between different platforms in the remote control system. The thesis firstly gives a general introduction of the CORBA technology and the architecture system of ORB. The prospective of applying CORBA in the remote mechatronic control systems is analyzed on the basis of comparing CORBA with other distribution technologies such as COM/DCOM/COM+ and Java. Secondly, a model of a remote mechatronic control system is designed in the thesis. The model consists of three parts, the functions of which are discussed and the models of which are designed. The thesis also analyzes in detail the control methods realization conditions and the embedded technologies of mechatronic device. Thirdly, the key technologies in the remote mechatronic control system are investigated thoroughly. Factors that affect the performances of the system are analyzed such as the response speed, stability, reliability, and the compatibility of communication protocols. Problems in system development are examined and the ways to solve them are also proposed in the thesis. Last, the prototype of the system is developed based on Browser/Server model. The deployment and the framework of the system are given under the circumstance of CORBA. The software is designed by using CORBA and WWW techniques. The system development procedures are also designed. In developing the system, C++ Builder and JBuilder are used as the development tools of client and server. Microsoft SQL Server7. 0 as the database management system and IIS as web information service. The system developed has been partly applied in the workshop of steel making at the Orient Steel Company. The results are satisfying.
