Recently, hardware and software design is rapidly changed and developed along with the growth of embedded, handheld and wireless devices. As a result, a specific computer system, Embedded system, comes into being.Based on the computer technology, Embedded system is developed into an application-focused system, which can support hardware and software clip and fulfill the strict request of application system in function, reliability, cost, volume and consume. Among those embedded system. Embedded Linux system is provided with more advanced technology and brilliant future, which attracts more and more manufactures and developers to adopt for application.The telemetry and control system of XSLC (Xichang Satellite Launch Center) undertakes the task of tracking, measuring and communication control at the early segment after launch vehicle lifts off. Nevertheless the system cannot fulfill the request of present satellite launch because of the out-of-date equipment, the low grade of technique application, the in-normative system interface, etc. Consequently it is crucial to update the system to meet the following satellite launch campaigns.Our research group adopts Embedded Linux system and mature graphic user interface?MiniGUI as the development support environment, accomplishes timer server software of Central Control and Display Timer System in launch site. Meanwhile, the research group builds some updating methods and models for telemetry, control and communication system.The main part of the paper introduces the analysis of application methods and models of Embedded Linux system in the aspect of the telemetry, control and communication system updating, and summarizes system development experiences. The first chapter addresses the possibility and necessity of system updating by analyzing the present status of Telemetry Control & Communication System and the application states of Embedded Linux system. The second chapter describes the relevant technology key to the establishment of Embedded Linux system platform. The third chapter introduces the choice and configuration of GUI system as application development support environment. Taking the example of Central Control and Display System of Timer, the forth chapter describes a design of Embedded Linux system. The fifth chapter probes the method for the design and achievement of timer sever software. The end of the paper is the conclusion and prospect.Conclusion: the successful updating of Central Control and Display System of Timer by adopting the embedded real time Linux basically resolved the system defects. The theory and methods formed during the system updating are general and rational, which can apply to the updating of telemetry, control and communication system.
