As tools frequently used in telecommunication areas, Testing Instruments for Data Transmitting System (TIDTS) can evaluate many technology indexs of telecommunication systems quantitatively and qualitatively, so they must be more excellent than telecommunication facilities tested by them in capacities and technology indexs. We must insure that the information resulted from TIDTS is right and reliable, and it can also be stored and transmited safely for their user to analyze systematically. Limited by their hardware resources, former TIDTS were usually based on MCU and had only single color LCD screen, which resulted in their poor computing capacity and single testing function. With the development of technology and marketing, new form of TIDTS are prevalent. They are usually based on higher CPU, with wider color LCD and GUI (Graphical User Interface). They can manage information perfectly and perform statistical functions. We require higher software and hardware resources and new technologies in the new TIDTS's implementing, such as adopting CPU with higher frequency and lower cost, using embedded operation system and GUI supporting system, and developing application software in multi-layers according to the hierarchy of business logic. This paper presented an implement framework of Linux/MiniGUI-based terminal system of TIDTS. The study began with the theory of embedded technology, and then the system development in embedded Linux operation system from the software angle, with emphasis on MiniGUI, which is the graphics supporting system of this implement. Then the paper described in detail the porting process and method from MiniGUI to SBC-2410X(which is an ARM/Linux-based platform). And at last it mentioned some important technology aspects in the terminal application software developing, including the hierarchy of business logic, skin-based GUI, and the serial port communication. The study of this paper provides references on how to implement an easier-used and more distinctive GUI application, to those who are interested in developing similar instruments' terminal systems. And it also provides references to those are engaged in the study of embedded system technology.
