In embedded system application field, Linux has a bright future from the wireless devices to the special control system. Linux has strong function, reliability, agility and agility. In addition, Linux supports a large number of microprocessor architecture, hardware and also some communicate protocols. All these advantages make Linux more and more popular in embedded field. So use Linux as the bottom system and rebuild it to be a real-time kernel is necessarily.In order to make embedded Linux widely used in embedded system application field, there are some key technologies need to be settled down. Such as kernel real-timing, configurable ability and so on. These are studied in this thesis which are parts the Defence Pre-Research Project of 'the Tenth Five-Year-Plan' of China project." Embedded real-time application technology". In base of the research, design and realize a configurable embedded real-time Linux pro-type system with a micro-second timing scheme. Except for this, embedded Linux kernel configure tool is also studied.In this thesis, firstly introduced the conception of embedded system, embedded real-time operation system briefly. Analyzed the advantages and disadvantages about Linux apply to embedded system. On this condition bring forward a plan of how to build a configurable embedded real-time Linux face to application.Secondly, aiming at the limitation of Linux kernel in real-time and coarse timing granularity, discussed its timing scheme and interrupt scheme, then realized a High-Resolution-Timer (HRT) which has microsecond timing granularity. With HRT, greatly enhanced the real-time ability of Linux kernel.At last, studied normal Linux kernel configure tool and Target Configure Tool (TCT). Based on this, presented an optimize blue point for TCT and integrate the optimized TCT to the embedded real-time Linux.
