GPS is the most advanced radio navigation system which was developed by the U.S. Department of Defence. The system can operate under all weather conditions, 24 hours a day, anywhere on earth, and can provide land, marine and airborne user with continuous, highly accurate, three-dimensional position, velocity, time data etc. Now GPS receivers, as a type of advanced equipment on navigation and positioning, have been used in many fields in almost every corner of the world.This thesis discusses the design and research of a special GPS receiver, which core is Ml 2 OEM-board and singlechip processor. The design project of the GPS receiver and the design method of hardware and software are presented in detail, and the consists of GPS system and the composition and the operating principle of the GPS receiver are discussed in the thesis. Some message described in the thesis, such as the basic structure of GPS-OEM, the consists of positioning system, the binary format of almanac and ephemeris, the method and the skill of processing orignal data through singlechip, and so on, is very useful for studying GPS and its applications in integrated navigation, and re-development on GPS-OEM.In the whole course of the research, I have carried out not only the design of system, hardware and software, but also the debug of system. The sample machine has been checked and accepted. The GPS receiver is simple and general in structure, dexterit and fast in processing signal data and convenience for programming.
