With the development of science and technology, Journalism and Mass media comes to maturity. Since the dawn of mass media, newspapers, radio and television have all been used to inform and educate the public. while we focus on the development of technological progress and mass media, should also be paying attention to the issue of media literacy of the population. Media literacy, media literacy education in Western countries and a few developed countries in the East have formed formal schooling system, but in many less-developed countries of the world, it have not caused enough attention. Media literacy education in the school education of china results are unsatisfactory, family media literacy education has both necessity and feasibility. Parents are lifelong mentors of the child, family education throughout the child grow up, parents’ media literacy is so important that it not only influence the formation and development of children’s media literacy, also determines the adult levels of lifelong learning and self-improvement. Chinese media literacy research group put a high value on parents’ media literacy are essential to the development of the media literacy education.This paper uses literature analysis and questionnaire survey to research media literacy on the parents of primary school students. The first part is the theoretical analysis of the connotation of media literacy for pupils’ parents, clarify the definition between media literacy and parents’ media literacy; the second part selected a primary school in Ankang city of Shaanxi province as a case, made a questionnaire investigation on media literacy status of the senior grade students and their parents. This paper analyze the status of pupils parents’ media literacy by surveying eight parents of elementary, the ability to quickly access information, the ability to choose the information, the ability to fully understand the information, the ability to dialectically assessment information, the ability to create and disseminate information, the concept of family media literacy education, the attitudes and methods to family media literacy education and family interaction behavior; the third part, do data validation on the factors of media literacy, found the real factors, degree and influence; finally, found a way to advance people’s media literacy strategy.
