A Study On The Joking Phenomenon In Network Public Events

In recent years, the network events have been emerging in succession with a variety of public expression every time. Among all the ways of expression, joking has been appearing in large numbers and deep development. The phenomenon of joking with a strong spirit of carnival and criticism has become a quite remarkable way of discourse and communication phenomena in the network events. This paper attempts to sort out the appearance of network joking phenomenon, analysising the typical techniques and the main features as well as the main causes of the joking phenomenon in network events. Besides, this paper aims to study the impact of the joking phenomena and discuss its inspiration to the guidance of public opinion currently in network events.This paper is divided into four chapters. The first chapter includes the origin of the study, the review of the current research, the main research methods as well as the definition of the concept of the network events, joking and the network joking phenomenon. Currently the network joking phenomenon has two implications. First, it is a kind of expression of folk language. Second, it is a communication phenomenon as well as public opinion.The second chapter briefly introduces the emergence and development of network joking phenomenon, analysing the typical techniques and the four main features of it.The third chapter analyzes the influence of joking phenomenon in network events from positive and negative angles. For its positive influence, this part starts from meso and macro level. The author takes "the event of pig in Huangpu River" as a case study to discuss the the effect of network joking on network events in a dynamic process. Meanwhile, this chapter introduces the social function of network joking from three aspects including changing the social discourse ecology, easing social mood and promoting social integration. Besides, for its negative influence, the author attempts to study the problems of joking phenomenon in network events from two aspects including rational anomie in entertainment and cyber-violence in language carnival.The forth chapter tries to explore the causes of the network joking phenomenon from three dimensions including the context of social transition, changes in media technology and psychological analysis of audience. Then the chapter discuss the inspiration of network joking to the guidance of public opinion.
