In recent years, with the rapid development of virtual reality technology,3D virtual roaming system has been widely used in many fields, such as aviation simulation, urban planning, military exercises, educational innovation etc. In this paper, the3D virtual campus roaming system of Yunnan university is taken as an example. The system adopts a new game engine called Unity as the primary development platform, uses the3D modeling technology of Autodesk Maya software, and solves some current problems of the virtual campus roaming system, such as poor simulation effect, small quantity of information, long development cycle, etc. The main contents can be concluded in the following points:1.Creating3D simulation scene. Based on the real campus landscape, use Autodesk Maya software to create3D models, and apply terrain generation technology, billboard technology, particle technology, sky ball technology to create terrain, vegetation, fountain and the sky and enhance the fidelity of the scene.2.Based on Unity platform, achieve character roaming function and collision detection function, enrich roaming mode by adding flight mode, scene switching mode.3.Information storage and query in the system. Use the Unity PlayerPrefs class and the custom file method to store and inquire information, achieve three ways of information query, inquiring the name of building by sliding mouse, inquiring details by using menu, and inquiring the information of sculpture by clicking mouse.4.Adding multimedia to the system by Unity platform. For example, adding background music and sound effects of the natural environment to make the system more vivid.5.Designing the style of the scene.According to the campus landscape of different seasons, realize style changes of the scene by writing codes.6.Based on Unity, achieve cross-platform feature of the system, test and optimize the PC stand-alone version of the system and the web version of the system.
