It is seen from the level of information in domestic steel industry that now most of the iron and steel enterprises are still in stage of management information, namely through the network, computer software and hardware to standardize the processes in production and management. The MES and ERP systems in iron and steel enterprises are typical examples, providing effective support to enterprises and improving the operational efficiency of them.Years after the MES and ERP systems put into use, the iron and steel enterprises have accumulated a lot of detailed production data and a variety of business data. These data truly reflect the various business environments. Therefore, how to fully use the data to support, the enterprise's decision making is an urgent problem for iron and steel enterprises. Data Warehouse is a technical solution to solve the problem. Data warehouse is subject-oriented, integrated, changing over time, sustained data collection used to support management in decision-making. Through the application of data warehouse, the degree of enterprise information will be effectively enhanced.This thesis mainly focuses on the methodology of SAS rapid construction used in data warehouse application of iron and steel enterprise. First, it introduces the background of the project, and gives a brief summary of the content below. The second chapter introduces the knowledge of data warehouse, including the concepts of data warehouse, system platforms and key technologies of data warehouse. Meanwhile, different solutions to data warehouse solutions are introduced, focusing on the SAS solutions. Then, it analyses the condition of data warehouse in one steel company and SAS solutions used in the data warehouse of the steel industry. We hope to find a solution to build data mart on the quality of steel industry.Then, we introduce the process of developing a data warehouse on the quality of steel industry through the methodology of SAS rapid construction. Chapter V makes comments on the data warehouse.Through this research, it hopes to build a system based on SAS technology and quality of steel industry to address some of the problems from quality data warehouse applications in the iron and steel enterprises so that it can be referred in the data warehouse development in an iron and steel enterprise.
