Background: Yin deficiency in liver and kindney, hyperactivity of liver yang combined with phlegm and stasis are all main causes for stroke. While Vascular dementia (VaD) and stoke have the similar physique factors. However, there is no strong evidence to clarify the cognition damage after stroke at present. Thus, further study on the relationship between VaD cognition damage, living abiligy and hyperactivity of liver yang syndrome is definitely needed. The thesis is based on the database gathered form the II and III phase multiple-center clinical study of Chinese Compound Dtug Tianma-cuzhi Granules (TMC) in treating senile vascular dementia of the "Hyperactivity of Liver Yang" type.Object i ve: In order to analyze the relative factors for Hyperactivity of Liver Yang in VaD and detect the pathogenesis for VaD and to provide evidence for VaD prevention through Chinese Medicine way, statistical work is underwent.Methods: The materials are gathered from 6 hospitals. Through two sets of database, statistics work was underwent through SPSS 11.0 for Windows. P<0.05 is looked on as the significant mark.Resu I ts: Statistical results show: the relationship between memory, calculation, daily activity, BDS score with hyperactivity of liver yang is P<0.05. The rank sum examination shows that CDR and hyperactivigy of liver yang P<0.05. The relationship between the overall score of MMSE and the score of hyperactivity of liver yang is P>0.05.Cone I usi ongs: The results show that the Hyperactivity of Liver Yang in VaD is always accompanied with the Kidney-essence Insufficiency type. The patiens with VaD Hyperactivity of liver yang syndrome easily have the memory, calculation and daily activity changes. Also CDR=1 is highly related with the syndrome of Hyperactivity of Liver Yang in VaD.
