Based on embedded technology, the embedded system becomes the new developing trend in the IT field at the tail of network. Having characteristics of little volume, high performance, low power consumption and reliability, embedded systems have been widely used in many fields such as national defense, consumer electronic products, network communication and industry control, etc. The application of 32bit micro controller units and embedded operating system are representative in these fields.Bridge type impeller coal feeder mainly used in thermo-power plant and metallurgical industry, it takes up the task of feeding coal of fixed amounts to the boiler continuously and equally. The control and monitor system for coal feeder implements accurate measurement of burning coal in the process of running , it controls coal feeder rates according to the artificial setting values and feedback information so that the burning coal transmitted into the boiler can accommodate with the fuel needed. It realizes accurate feedstock to help customer reduce material waste, upgrade quality and improve producing automation. The coal feeder takes great significance in energy saving, profits promotion and safety assurance.The control and monitor system for coal feeder takes a hierarchical precept including upper computer and lower computer. The lower computer embedded control system designed in this paper takes PID operating to control by contrasting instantaneous coal flowing through the weighing sensor on belt and the burning coal which needed. Outputting necessary signals to motor controller, the system changes the speed to maintain the coal flowing of demand instantaneously. The upper computer takes the outstanding SCADA software WebAccess which based on the Internet as the system development platform, and provided a friendly interface for the operators. It not only can monitor the production on the site, the management of the production data, automation control of production lines, etc; but also has the capability of centralized management, with this function, managers can monitor the production network anytime and anywhere through the internet. Moreover, the system transmits the data by GPRS between the upper computer and the lower computer, it becoming more stable and reliable.The experiments and production practices prove that this control and monitor system can transcend the same type of control system of domestic at all kinds of technical specification; such as product quality, processing speed, management level and so on. The control and monitor system's technology is advanced; working steadily and reliably, can be popularized and applied extensively.
