The continual development of embedded technology has been causing lots of changes in many fields,such as modem industry control,network communication, living consumption,etc.These changes have made people's work and life styles different. With the application of high-performance microprocessors in the field of industry control, miniaturization and intelligence will be higher and cost will be reduced greatly. Therefore, the application of embedded technology in measurement and control equipments will make many benefits and have broad prospect.Firstly,this article briefly introduces the application and developments of coal stocktaking equipments at home and abroad based on the laser coal stocktaking equipments and also puts forward lots of problems.Then, the article proposes a new plan based on embedded technology and network communication for more intelegence and lower cost.This system uses embedded technology as the lower computer for data acquisition and control and industrial control computer as the upper computer for data receiving and processing.The whole system is simple and flexible. the lower computer mainly processes data collection and transmission and it also controls the system of laser scanning; the upper computer is responsible for control of the upper computer partly and completes data receiving and processing. The system eventually accomplishes the triangulations of the space of the point cloud and 3d graphics display for the volume of coal. The data transmission between the two machines based on the TCP/IP protocol for GPRS/Internet network.This application makes the installation simple and without distance limit.By the experiments, this paper developed based on embedded ARM and GPRS and spelling games coal system and traditional dish coal equipment installation and flexible than not only has low cost, high level of intelligence, and according to the characteristics of the collection object surface dissection algorithm design, improve the computational speed, ensure the 3d simulation and volume of the accuracy of the calculation, and it is worth to be speaded in in the small and medium-sized power, and other large pile body size measurement in engineering.
