The Design And Implementation Of Journal Navigation System Based On Soa

Modern library is getting more and more electronic journal databases. These databases are from different vendors, using different establishing criterions, search interface and usage. Users have to be familiar with the various journal databases' usage to gain comprehensive information, which has adversely affected the efficiency. Therefore, establishing a journal navigation system which contains overall electronic journal resources becomes a urgent need. This system should provide users one-stop service in a unified interface. As a new software architecture, SOA is able to encapsulate application interface of every journal database through service, furthermore, it can serve users in a consistent way. This approach not only uses efficient existing resources efficiently, but also maintains flexibility and scalability. Based on the understanding of current navigation systems, this paper analyses the shortages of current navigation systems, and ascertains the development object.Then this paper introduces SOA's basic theory, characteristics, the key technologies and development methodology. And this paper has finished the modeling for journal navigation system by using the service-oriented analysis and service-oriented design. At the end of this paper, a new journal navigation system is achieved by integrating Struts, Hibernate and Web Service.
