Different Fields Evaluating Effectiveness Of Journal PR8 Index

Background Different fields evaluation of academic journals is a hot and difficult topic both at home and abroad.Currently,the different fields evaluating indicators of academic journals are mainly journal Quarti,journal impact factor percentile(JIFP)and source normalized impact per the influence of paper(SNIP),but the objectivity of these indexes in the different fields evaluation is still insufficient.In 2017,Liu Xueli and other scholars put forward a new journal evaluation index,namely,the Journal index PR8(JIPR8).Its preliminary research has initially proved that JIPR8 is quite effective in the different fields evaluation,but there is still a lack of large-scale empirical research.Based on the research of 8748 journal about 177 subjects in the SCI database,this study verifies in the different fields evaluating effectiveness of JIPR8 on journals further.Objective Through the calculation of all journals' JIPR8 in 177 fields in SCI database,we further demonstrate its in the different fields evaluating effectiveness of journals,in order to provide a relatively scientific evaluation index for different fields evaluation of academic journals.Methods8748 journals from 177 fields in SCI were selected as the research objects,and two values,journal annual JIPR8(a JIPR8)and cumulative JIPR8(c JIPR8),were calculated the coefficient of variation of c JIPR8,a JIPR8,TC,IF,EF,AIS,and JIFP were c JIPR8(0.453),a JIPR8(0.535),TC(3.422),IF(1.563),EF(4.096),AIS(1.774)and JIFP(0.583),which shows that the c JIPR8 and a JIPR8 have the smallest discrepancies and the total citation frequency(TC),impact factor(IF),journal impact factor percentile(JIFP),eigenfactor(EF),article influence Score(AIS)were obtained.Normality analysis of the above-mentioned indicators was carried out using Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and journal Quarti(JIF Quarti)of the journals was acquired.Differences between the indicator groups in different partitions were tested using Kruakal-Wallis test and the variation degree of the distribution of each indicator in the same partition is expressed by coefficient of variation.The correlation between indicators were analyzed using Spearman Rank correlation test.Test level: =0.05.And the indexes of a JIPR8 and c JIPR8 were compared with TC,IF,EF,AIS and JIFP,and the correlation ship was observed between a JIPR8 and c JIPR8 and common-used indicators.Results A positive correlation was found between a JIPR8,and c JIPR8 with the TC,IF,EF,AIS and JIFP journal evaluation indicators(P = 0.000).The correlations between c JIPR8 and a JIPR8 were the highest,and the correlation coefficients between c JIPR8 and each control index were a JIPR8(0.969),JIFP(0.871),AIS(0.857),IF(0.831),EF(0.762),and TC(0.709)from high to low.In the different fields.The percentiles of impact factors and a JIPR8 journals were the most significant among the groups,followed by c JIPR8 and impact factors.The total citation frequency and the differences between the characteristic factor groups were the least significant.Within the same fields,the smallest contributor to variation in any subdivision is the impact factor percentile,c JIPR8 and a JIPR8.Conclusion JIPR8 is quite effective in interdisciplinary evaluation and c JIPR8 is superior to a JIPR8.
