| This paper reviewed many studys , theories & practices about journal collection analysis and evaluation. Base on this review, author thought that although the theories of traditional journal collection analysis and evaluation is still effective on analyse and evaluate modern composited journal collection, Manpower based analysis methods can not afford the heavy burden of analyse and evaluate modern journal collection. For example, Use the traditional manpower based method could a single or several journal collection develop librarian find out and list those dedicated journals of a fulltext journal database which composed by thousands of different journals? Use the traditional manpower based method could they find out how many journals from the fulltext journal database are duplicated to current journal collection and could they finish that job in a short time? Use the traditional manpower based method could they provide more external journal database using evaluation?According to the review, author found that till Oct 30, 2006, most of domestic library have not got a conveniency and effective method to analysis and evaluate composited journal collection. This situation results in many problems in developing, evaluating and using of journal collection. Although the studys and practices on analyse and evaluate digital collection is still progressing, many results appeared. Base on author's literature study, those results do not fit journal collection analysis and evaluation very well. Many important aspects of journal collection were not considered by those results.According to this review, and combined with anthor's study and practice, take analyse and evaluate journal collection of ZhengZhou University Library as an example, this paper provide and check up a conveniency and effective method to analysis and evaluate composited journal collection. Microsoft's ACCESS and EXCEL are important software tools used in this method. |
