With the rapid development of electronic science, computer technology and digital image processing technology, now video monitoring system is used in many fields. The performance of video monitoring system is needed much higher. Video capture system is the front part of the video monitoring system. The technology of the traditional video capture uses DSP s a whole acquisition system controller. However, DSP can't make use of a way of the parallel processing to handle the data. And hardware acceleration can't be achieved. As a result, the sampling rate is too low. It can't meet the requirements of high-speed video capture. To adapt the requirements of high-speed of the video capture system, for example, real-time video processing system, we should design the video captureing system with high-speed and high-precision.This paper introduces a new design of video monitoring system. The FPGA system which has the function video capture is implemented. This system makes full use of superiority of FPGA in the video processing, enhancing the capture speed of system. The system used a FPGA of Altera company as processor. FPGA system consists of an asynchronous FIFO module, video capture module, I2C configuration module, the video storing control module, VGA control module, and FPGA configuration circuit module. The analog video signal is captured by CCD sensor. Then the signal is decoded for the digital video signal by the AD chip.The video signal is sent to the FPGA system. FPGA system would deal with the signal at once. After that the signal is sent to VGA display.The video capture system of this paper is made by Verilog HDL language .The code has been simulated in Modelsim, and it is downloaded to FPGA by Quartusâ…ˇto validate. The results shows that the entire video capture system have more higher speed of video capture compare to the traditional capture system. It can satisfy the requirements of the high speed of video capture at the present stage. It has great application value.
