The decomposition coordination algorithm for large-scale systems was studied since 1960s and 1970s, and it has been consummated in 1980s. This paper will focus on the decomposition algorithm for large-scale systems with sustainable development as a background. The problem of sustainable development is organized by economic population resource and environment. It covers wide, has a large number of variables, and its interaction is complex and stochastic. Each of its subsystems has its own model and control aim. Therefore, the problem of sustainable development can be calculated by decomposition coordination algorithm. In 1st chapter, it is the basic theory of large-scale systems. We introduce in brief the common character of large-scale systems and two representative viewpoints of large-scale systems definition. On the top of this we interpret the principle of decomposition coordination of large-scale systems, namely interaction-prediction principle and interaction-balance principle. Lastly, we introduce the basic steps of large-scale systems modeling. In 2nd chapter, it is the decomposition coordination algorithm for dynamic linear systems. In this chapter, the interaction-prediction method and goal-coordination method of continuous-time systems are discussed. Besides, the interaction-prediction method and the Tamura's three-level coordination method of discrete-time systems are expatiated. Then a sample is given to illustrate the decomposition coordination algorithm. In 3rd chapter, it's the decomposition coordination algorithm for dynamic non-linear systems. In this chapter, four algorithms are put forward in allusion to dynamic non-linear systems: three-level goal-coordination method, new prediction method, mend method of costate prediction approach and iterativeness prediction method. And three-level goal-coordination method is the application of interaction-balance principle in dynamic non-linear systems. However, the new prediction method, the mend method of costate prediction approach and interativeness prediction method are the more embodiment of interaction-prediction principle in dynamic non-linear systems. At the end of this chapter, we interpret the decomposition coordination algorithm for dynamic non-linear systems through four instances. In 4th chapter, it's the application of the decomposition coordination algorithm for large-scale systems: the modeling and analysis of sustainable development. This chapter is mainly instructed by the large-scale systems modeling, and is based on the decomposition coordination algorithm. The problem of sustainable development is synthetically studied in this chapter. In the end, a hierarchical control model of sustainable development is build,IIwhich is made from economic subsystem, population subsystem, resource subsystem and environment subsystem. The last chapter is the summary of this paper.
