Research On Agricultural Technology Extension Workers' Behavior In Agricultural Extension

Agriculture is the basis of national economy. It must depend on the progress of the agricultural technology to solve the agricultural problems whether drawing on the experience of the developed country or observing the development history of the Chinese agriculture. If you want to make full use of the agricultural technology effect, it must depend on a perfect agricultural technology extension system which is a guarantee that the agricultural technology was changed from potential productivity into real productivity. Whether the system is healthy or not, it is decided by the whole quality and the work enthusiasm of agricultural technology extension workers.This paper takes Sichuan province as an example to study on their behaviors about agricultural technology extension .The author uses many analysis methods such as the combination of the qualitative investigation with the quantitative investigation, the combination of the questionnaire survey with the information analysis ,then the main way is Logit model. As a sample, the author chooses 257 agricultural technology extension workers of 18 cities (counties) in Sichuan Chengdu to study. Three main ideas were concluded in this research: (1) Agricultural technology extension workers' cognition on agricultural technology extension work and their own jobs. It includes the current situation and the significance of agricultural technology extension work; farmers' demands degree of new technology; extension workers' cognition on equality of position and income; the satisfaction of their income; their own extending effect and the appraisement of their organization and farmers and so on. (2) Analyzing the behavior of agricultural technology extension workers in description. It includes the way of extension, the way of connection and communication with the farmers and so on. (3)It also analyzes the wish and main factors of extension workers in going on extension work of the agricultural technology. Firstly the author uses the Logit model to analyzing the wish of all extension workers. Secondly , the author also analyzing the wish and the factor to the wish of extension workers who are not come from only government personnel but also from non-government personnel about continuing the extension work. Through these, the author attends to find these factors in influencing the wish of the extension workers and analyze the differences of these factors between government extension workers and non-government extension workers.This article draws the following conclusions from the study and research : (1) From the case of agricultural technology extension. The agricultural technology extension workers extend three kinds technologies mainly: the new species technologies, plant technology and breed technology such as seed-breeding, pest management and so on. These agricultural technology mainly come from the superior government and from the agricultural practice. Scientific Research Academy and research and development themselves is not the main channel of agricultural technology. (2) The cognition of agricultural technology extension workers to agricultural technology extension. The cognition of agricultural technology extension workers to agricultural technology extension is not optimistic and pessimistic, near half s agricultural technology extension workers thought that the present situation of agricultural technology extension is ordinary, but many extension workers thought that the agricultural technology extension work is important. The difficulty which the agricultural technology extension workers meet in the extension is mainly the funds limit. (3) The cognition of agricultural technology extension workers to their own work. The cognition of agricultural technology extension workers to their income and the status is not satisfaction. (4) The extension behavior of agricultural technology extension workers.The way of agricultural technology extension is tradition. it mainly include providing material, field training as well as entering household.They contact with the farmer also not only selecting one method, but using many kinds of ways. Its include seeking for farmer random, contacting with demonstration farmers and village cadres and so on. When farmer's opinion is not consistent with theirs', the majority agricultural technology extension workers accepts modestly. After the extension, the majority extension workers will know the using case. (5) The influence factors to affect the wish which agricultural technology extension workers continue to be engaged in the agricultural technology extension work. Their wish of engaging on extension work continuously in the future is affected by many factors, such as the education degree,the professional identity and the age of extension of extension workers. Secondly, the wish also is affected by satisfaction degree of income, the appraise of farmers, the fund of agricultural technique extensions enough or not and the equality on comparing with their colleague and so on. Thirdly, the factor is not entire the same which affects the wish of government extension workers and non-government extension workers. On the base, the author designs motivation mechanism and operation plan and provides some interrelated measures.
