With economic globalization, science and technology developing rapidly, construction projects become larger and more complicated, require more highly and relate to wider aspects. General contracting pattern, which can provide socialized, specialized and commercial service, is increasing attached importance to by project owners and engineering companies. This thesis studies Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) general contracting pattern, and the general contractor is a chief contracting enterprise where engineering dominates. The general contractor is in charge of the project's time, cost, quality and safety, and should realize the target prescribed in the contract. It can give play to the advantage of engineering, take over the chief engineering and procurement tasks, and subcontracts the secondary engineering tasks and all construction tasks. By integrating resources of itself and subcontractors, the general contractor finishes the entire project task. This thesis brings forward that engineering should be divided into several stages and suitable subcontractors should be chosen at different stages. Based on concurrent engineering this thesis puts forward concurrent construction concept, method and four key factors which are seting up a project team with overlapping function, uniform goal and cooperation; satisfying the project owner's request; supported by integrating computer environment; using advanced and effective methods and technology, and thus carries on integrated construction, in order to display EPC superiority. General contractor, engineering subcontractors, supplier and construction subcontractors form the project implementing organization system. During the concurrent construction synergy mana- gement among the subsystems is an important subject. This thesis based on synerge- tics establishes project synergy management mechanism, emphatically analyzes dominant part, and brings forward that cohesion is the order parameter of the project implementing organization syste. It indicates that the EPC project manager plays key role in synergy management, and proposes several measures of synergy management, such as studying contracts, establishing concerted programme In addition, this thesis making use of modern technology including computer, communication and network, puts up the project synergy management information system.
