The rapid changes of technology and globalization of market competition as well asproduct differentiation requirements are causing industries in product life cycle (PLC)management to become more and more detailed. PLC management directly impacts oncompany’s performance, achievement of profit and objectives, and it will ultimatelyimpact on company’s survival and development. How to take the initiative in the fiercecompetition–rapid development of new products and fast to market–becomes importantelement of company’s market competitiveness, as well as significant topic in reality.This thesis studies how to make use of Concurrent Engineering (CE) theory to domanagement on organization, knowledge and management integration during introductionof new equipment and new process. It analyzes how to build and manage organization,how to collect and share information, and how to collaborate with each other. CE is asystematic approach to integrated product development that emphasizes the response tocustomer expectations. It embodies team values of co-operation, trust and sharing in such amanner that decision making is by consensus, involving all perspectives in parallel, fromthe beginning of the product life cycle. The idea is that all elements of a product’s life-cycle, from functionality, producibility, assembly, testability, maintenance issues,environmental impact and finally disposal and recycling, should be taken into carefulconsideration in the early design phases. The target of CE is to improve quality, meantime,reducing cost and shorten development cycle and make the product fast to market.Therefore, it should be considered about management integration, including organizationalintegration, information integration and collaborative work and knowledge managementduring CE. Face to severe global economic competition, CE emphasizes the integration ofdesign development with other processes, as far as possible to design the best at the firsttime, to shorten the manufacturing cycle of the product. CE focus is increasingly focusingon the integration of the integration of people, organization and management.The thesis also addresses the difficulties in project management when executing CE andpresents suggestions for improvement. It illustrates how to implement CE byorganizational management, knowledge management and management integration duringmultinational introduction of new equipment and new process.
