With the development of information technology, the technique of construction management has developed to a new level. At the same time, China has entered WTO, many foreign project-consultant companies have coming into domestic market. This has put great challenges to Chinese companies. Under this status, this thesis aims to explore the new theory and new technique in the area of construction management. The paper aims to probe a suitable method for the application of concurrent engineering in construction industry.The paper focuses on the application of concurrent engineering in construction industry. First, it introduces the concept of concurrent engineering and reviews its application research in construction industry. Then it proposes the Concurrent Engineering Model of the Building Process with IDEF0 technique and the implementation rules of concurrent engineering. With six IDEF0 figures and coding of WBS, The model presents the whole building process, namely management, planning, design, construction and operation. The model in the paper can show the influence of concurrent engineering on the all process of construction project, and presents the difference of concurrent engineering and non-concurrent engineering projects. Finally, the paper analyzes problems of using concurrent engineering in China construction industry as well as couter-measures.The research of this paper aims at shorting project duration, improving quality, reducing cost, promoting service and raising the competitiveness of construction industry.
