Analysis And Evaluation Of The International Competitiveness Of China's PVC Industry

PVC industry is basic raw material industry in China. As one of primary products in chlor-alkali industry, PVC are applied to agriculture, chemical building materials, electron , manufacturing cars, etc extensively, accounting for very important status in the process of our country's economic development. With high-speed development of the economy, the demand for PVC products continues to increase. According to data from China Chlor-Alkali Industry Association, our PVC produce capacity and output had achieved 15.2million and 9.72millon respectively ,the demand had hit 10.35million also. Our country already jumps over the first place storing to world PVC industry. Although our country becomes chlorine-alkali Great Power already, it is still far from powerful one.The purpose of this paper is to analysis the international competitiveness of China's PVC industry. And then give some advices for the domestic PVC industry. The researching method of this paper is to combine the theory of the industry economy and the practice of the PVC industry of China. By setting up the assessing system of the PVC industry competitiveness, achieved some conclusions of this industry, so we know exactly what our status in the global PVC industry.This paper is on the basis of Prof. Michael Baud's diamond model competition theory.Firstly, we analysised that what factors greatly influenced PVC industry international competitiveness, and pointed out the chances and challenges we faced. Then we setted an assessing system to evaluate China PVC industry international competitiveness from four aspects, including the PVC industry scale competitiveness, the PVC industry trade competitiveness, the PVC industry profit competitiveness, the PVC industry innovation competitiveness. By assessing those aspects, achieved that China PVC industry are still weakness.Finally, bring forward some policy suggestions to improve PVC industry international competitiveness further.Currently, we have researched a lot on the problem of industry international competitiveness, but few researches on the PVC industry competitiveness. This paper use the indexes such as Trade Competition Index, Market Concentration etc to analysis the PVC industry international competitiveness, it is the innovation of this paper.
