With the center of gravity of global economic development has been biased towards tertiary industry, namely the service sector, the position of trade in services in global trade is more and more important. The service trade has been an important part of the global market competition. At the same time, America’s successful experience gained in its service trade development process certainly has great reference for the development of China’s service trade. This article is divided into six parts. The first part introduces the research background and significance of the service trade, and summarizes the existing research on service trade competitiveness at home and abroad. At the same time, introduces research methods and shortcomings of this paper. The second part mainly expounds some basic concepts of trade in services and relevant service trade theories, including the comparative advantage theory and national competitive advantage theory. The third part analyzes the development of service trade in China and the United States, and found that the two countries’ problems in the development of service trade at the present stage. The fourth part selects the service trade competitive advantage index and revealed comparative advantage index to evaluate the international competitiveness of service trade of China and the United States. The fifth part uses Michael porter’s diamond model theory to build "six elements" analysis model, and selects six indicators which influence the competitiveness of service trade of China and the United States. The six indicators are human capital, the level of urbanization, exports respectively, FDI inflows, per capita GDP and service trade openness. The writer uses these indicators for the empirical analysis to find out the factors that significantly affect the two countries’ service trade. The sixth part bases on the analysis of each part in the front, putting forward suggestions on the promotion service trade international competitiveness in five aspects in China. These aspects include strengthening personnel training of end service, playing the leading role of related industries to trade in services, adjusting service industry internal structure actively, speeding up the pace of openness of trade in services and strengthening the government role.
