The Study On International Competitiveness In The Cotton Trade Of China

Cotton is an important staple primary product, second to the foodstuff, in our planting industry; it is also an important economic crop, which has the longest industry chain. Cotton production concerns to the economic interests of more than one hundred million farmers, 20 million employees in textile industry, therefore, whether the cotton production is stable or not will directly influence the development of the whole agriculture and textile industry together with the income level of the cotton farmer, and further influence the national economy and the people's livelihood.Since a long term ago, especially since China's entering into the World Trade Organization, cotton import customs duty gradually reduced, and the quota of cotton is increasing. Domestic cotton market faced with a very big crisis. How to exactly grasp the opportunity and the challenge is very important to our country's cotton industry, which requests us to correctly realize our country's cotton import-export trade and the production actuality, estimate comparison superiority between production and trade. Based on the actuality, the study attempts to evaluate international competitive power of our country's cotton product and domestic host production area of cotton productivity by using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Aggregated Advantage Indices (AAI) . The article mainly is divided into seven parts and main study content as follows:The first and second part: objective and significance of the research, content and technique of the research. On the basis of the interrelated theory and concept, the second part forms the study system of this article.The third part: make a comparative analysis between our country's cotton import-export trade and the world cotton import-export trade.The fourth part: analyze international competitive power of our country's cotton production in using the RCA index. The result indicated that competitive ability of our country cotton is weak.The fifth part: analyze actuality of our country's cotton production. Then realize the international market status of our country cotton production. In the base of that, evaluate the comparison superiority of our country's cotton production areas by using Aggregated Advantage Indices provides the basis for the cotton industry reasonable layout. The research indicated that our country's cotton production area has aggregated comparison advantage in production, and the superiority mainly concentrates in the northwest and Yellow River.The sixth part: in the base of demonstration analysis, analyzes the reason why our country's cotton exportation lacks competitive power. The analysis indicated that, domestic output, demand, stock and the policy of the government has an effect on our country's cotton exportation quality.The seventh part: conclusion and policy suggestion. In the base of demonstration analysis, put forward a corresponding policy proposal of how to improve cotton export.
