Based on comprehensive analysis of CBM geological background including coal-bearingstratum sedimentary evolution history, burial history, tectonic evolution history, geostress,magmatic activity and hydrogeological condition, combining with experiment testing of po-rosity, pore structure and isothermal adsorption, coal petrology and coal quality were con-ducted analysis, as well as pore, fracture and coal structure. Through studying measured gascontent of minable seam in Xiashihezi Formation, Shanxi Formation and Taiyuan Formation,CBM weathered zone depth and gas gradient within the exploration region were confirmed.By means of physical and numerical simulation, water-soluble gas, adsorbed gas and free gascontent were calculated; furthermore, gas content of deep coal bed could be predicted. On ba-sis of block-section method, CBMresources was calculated up to173.05×109m3,21.26×109m3above1000m and151.79×109m3under1000m respectively. CBM mineable coefficient wasdetermined to44.47%on the basis of comprehensive analysis of CBM desorption rate andtheoretical recovery. Risk probability method and integrated queuing coefficient method ap-plied, CBM development area was divided into best beneficial block(270km2), medium bene-ficial block(115km2) and unbeneficial block(65km2), possessing CBM resources of110.61×109m3,41.67×109m3and19.77×109m3respectively.
