Analysis On The Reports Of Women Scientists In China Women's Newspaper

China Women's Newspaper, as the guardian of Chinese women, actively participated and built the image of female scientist workers.Through reviewing the developing process of the Chinese women team over half a century, this paper colligated more than 200 reports of women scientist people which are wrote since China Women's Newspaper launched, summarized these reports' characters in types, numbers, composition, content, location, distribution of columns and so on, coded characters of what is reported according to fields, ages, quality and other aspects, and analyzed the media image of women in science and technology. Compared these reported women with the real ones, we can see that newspapers has a slight deviation in the process of representing women scientists, but it is objectively true and accurate on the whole.China Women's Newspaper usually reports women scientists in the form of people communication. Analysis shows that the structure of people communication about women scientists in China Women's Newspaper is full of modeling traces.For instance, the structural model of most reports changed from biographical linear structure to "bead line" parallel structure since late 90s of 20th century. In addition, Essay-type linear structure and parallel structure of the interview-style coexisted since China Women's Newspaper founded.Reports of women scientist in China Women's Newspaper have distinct writing characteristics, such as contemporary, pervasive gender awareness, rich description of the external image, skillful handling of scientific information and carrying forward the scientific spirit, etc. Such reports played an active role for the public understanding of this group and science.On the other hand, there are also many deficiencies, such as declining number, serious political discourse, form is more important than content, the image of a new generation of female scientists has not been reflected, and so on. This paper also gives relevant comments, such as enhancing reports on women scientists take part in social undertakings, strengthening cooperation with social survey organizations, enriching report forms, changing model from inherent propaganda to fully showing the image of female scientists.
