A Critical Study On The Reports Of Contemporary Chinese Women

This article is based on the reports about Women's Day on March 8th every year from People's Daily between 1950 and 1999. It analyzes the history of reports on Women's Day from People's Daily in the past 50 years and summarized the historic evolving trace of these reports on contemporary women since the foundation of country. It concludes the interactive relationship between social conditions, medium and their targets by means of a number of theories of social economy, news propagation and feminism. By means of pointing out the bias on the methods of reporting Women's Day, this article also solves the issues on how to build women's image through reporting the Women's Day and how to serve women through taking advantage of medium reasonably.The article can be divided into three parts: preface, body and conclusion.The preface overviews the background and objects of study, raises the main points of the article and points the purpose and meaning of this study.The body consists of three chapters. The first chapter sums up the main topics, key words and women's' image from People's Daily reports on Women's Day on March 8th at different phrases since the foundation of country. It gives an overview of People's Daily reports on Women's Day. The second chapter concludes the evolving trace of People's Daily reports on Women's Day over the past 50 years from the previous content, analyzes the reasons of change from the prospective of social economy, news propagation and feminism, and explores the interactive relationship between medium, women and society. The third chapter is a summary about People's Daily reports on Women's Day since the foundation of country. It points out the problems in reports about women and tries to offer a new solution.The conclusion is comprised of the review and summary of this study and its prospect.
