With the progress of science and technology, the quality of people's life has improved, and the home security-monitoring has got more attention. Traditional monitoring systems take computer as the core, use the network technology connectd with broadband line or the private network to carrying out the field monitoring. Generally, it needs complex equipments and professional staff, and be applied to monitoring the equipments in the modern industry production. With the limitation of high cost of manpower and material, monitoring system has matched with the high-grade domicile merely in real home monitoring. Thus, a home security-monitoring system suitable for popularization which costs less and simple operation, will has more important research value and practical significance.The aim of this paper is mainly to achieve remote control and home monitoring of the household appliances when the user left home. This system based on the SMS, MMS, using wireless technology to solve the home security problem. Because of using the wireless network, the user can control the home appliances by mobile phone and familiar with the family status in time. Therefore, the system is more suitable for ordinary family and has high performance-price ratio.This paper has designed a set of home monitoring and electric appliance remote control system which is based on embedded technology. It uses a 32-bit RISC microprocessor S3C2440A which based on ARM920T as the key processor of the system. Combined with GPRS module and ordinary USB camera to construct the hardware platform, the system has taken an open source code Linux operating system as application software development platform. Therefore, it has friendly function setting interface and simple operation, reliableness and suitable for popular home security-monitoring and remote control as well.The system has achieved image sending automatically by adopting infrared pyroelectric infrared sensor. User can receive MMS to look over field status through mobile phone, and also can check the home situation by remote control. When alarming, the system will send locale image to the phone, and the user can set up whether to ring the alarm bell. Household appliances (such as TV, light, electric cookers, drinking water machine, sound, water heater, etc.) can be achieved remote control by mobile phone. At the same time, electrical equipment can also be controlled by touch-type controller in the house to achieve unified control.
