The Implementation Of CWMP Protocol On The Gateway Device

CWMP (CPE WAN Management Protocol, CPE WAN Management Protocol) is one of the technical specifications launched by DSL (Digital Subscriber's Line, Digital Subscriber Line) forum. Its number is tr-069 and it is known as tr-069 protocol. It provides a common framework, message specification, management and data model for the next generation home network. The protocol makes remote centralized management for the home network gateway, routers, set-top boxes and other equipment by the side of network.CWMP mainly used for DSL accessing the network environment. In this process, as a vast amount of user equipment need to be configured and diagnosed by the management interface at the very beginning, running, business changing or occurring failure. At present, most devices provide LAN side management configuration interface and user interface. So the traditional approach is to install or debug these devices by configuration and doing troubleshooting work through the management interface of the LAN side. However, this one-man-service approach is clearly not efficient to run and it needs spend a lot of manpower. With the development of the home network business, there will be a large number of devices are placed in the user's home. If we use the traditional way to maintain and manage these devices, it will become a huge burden. CWMP put forward ACS (Auto-Configuration Server) to remote centralized manage the CPE (Customer Premises Equipment).This method will address the difficulties of the management of these CPE devices, save maintenance costs, improve problem solving efficiency.Firstly, this article introduces the basic principles of the CWMP protocol, describe the network architecture and discuss the process between the CPE and the ACS in detail.Then, we introduce configuration management knowledge of the CPE device. Configuration management plane as an adaptation layer between the network management protocol and the adaptation modules, it shields differences of a variety of network management approach. Then, it gives a main process for the CWMP modules on the CPE and detailed descript a method, which can parse the HTTP message to the RPC from the ASC side through the CWMP modules. Finally, this article makes the interaction test between the ACS and the CPE. It gives interaction packets between the ACS and the CPE and verifies the correctness of CWMP protocol functions.
