As value-added service provided by mobile communication network, location service has been paid more attention and is also put forward a higher business requirements. From services design to user management, we must make comprehensive consideration and analysis of location service to meet the needs of users for wide development.Combing the author's theory research and practice work, we introduce ALS (Advanced Location System) which realizes the concept of Location Based Service. Followed by the detailed introduction of system's functional requirements, structural design and sub-module structure, a location service solution is provided to meet different precision positioning and different options.First of all,the paper introduces the background of location based service, the common mobile location service, position technologies and SUPL protocol.Based on this, we start the research and analysis of mobile positioning platform. Then the author expound the general design of the overall structure of the ALS platform. The system includes LBS and AGPS positioning platform. First we give the logical structure, the function of peripheral interfaces and module description on each sub-system, then propose the design of the system software architecture and platform deployment scheme. There are three kinds of logical design and respective positioning message process for different positioning accuracy request and according to the module's function and needs in chapter 5,a detailed design of the core modules-GLC, Location Engine architecture is described in ALS, including the external interfaces, internal logic scheduling design and interactions between the messages of state machines. Finally, we give the summary and prospect of the ALS system and the future development of location based service.
