People's lives are closely related with the geographic locations. With the development of communications and information technology, location-based service is becoming an emerging service and gradually going deep into every aspect of our lives. In personal consumption filed, the hotest study points are these services with multi-functional, user-friendly, interactive and integrated features. It will be the future direction of development of personal location-based services that using hand-held terminals, electronic maps, GPS and GPRS transceivers to achieve personal travel assistant. In the macro-economic field, location-based services will facilitate and accurate the information management of the logistics, transportation, security, urban planning, agriculture, forestry, fishing and many other traditional industries and finally produce infinite values. The integrated navigation and positioning system based on AGPS/ GSM/GPRS is an intergrated information service system which can provide real-time positioning, location management and query services. The AGPS positioning technology, which combines traditional GPS positioning technology and wireless communication technologies, can achieve fast and accurate positioning for terminal; the GSM/GRPS technologies of wireless communication add information exchange capability to realize the terminal location management and tracking. This paper summerized the resarch and development achievements on the "Navigation and Positioning System based on AGPS/GSM/GPRS" project. The first chapter describes the development status, technology advantages and market advantages of GIS related technologies which are involved in this paper, and points out the methodology and structural arrangements of this paper.Chapter II and Chapter III describe the overall design of the entire project. The second chapter describes the function design of the hybrid positioning system, including five function modules which are the master server, AGPS server, AGPS reference network, SMS server, and web server. The third chapter describes the service logic process design of the hybrid positioning system, including the positioning process of terminal, and terminal location result querying process by user.Chapter VI, V and IV describe the specific module owned by the author in details. The fourth chapter tells the design and implementation of AGPS algorithm, the fifth chapter describes the design and implementation of the AGPS reference network, the sixth chapter is about the design and implementation of the web server.Chapter VII gives a detailed summary of the project and look forward to the implement and upgrading of it.
