The college library is a documentation&Info centre of the college, is the academic organization served for teaching and scientific research, is the important bases of informationization of the college and social informationization. It is obvious that the function of college's library is essential, and information service is the lifeline of the library, the innovation of information service is the key point of library development, it is realistic meaning that through investigation of information service to promot the development of library.This paper is to do the basis with the basic theory of information service, the investigations to user's information service of library of Hebei college were surveyed with well designed questionnaiers.First of all, having chosen some representative universities and colleges as the respondent. The range involves colleges, such as science and engineering,medical science,agriculture,normal school,operating,literature and history, etc. Successively visited the Hebei University,Yanshan University Hebei Normal University Hebei Medical University,Agricultural University of Hebei,Hebei University of Science and Technology,Hebei University of Business & Economics,Hebei Institute of Architecture Civil Engineering,Shi Jiazhuang University, etc. Secondly, the content mainly includes:(1) User's basic information:Find out about demography characteristics, such as users'age gender, academic credentials, and speciality,etc. The demography characteristic is dominance index which carrys on locating and classifying users.(2) User's information environment:From the user perspective of the user feeling or perceiving enviromental factors, and analysing these environmental elements impact on user's information behavior,etc.(3) User's information demand:Understanding user's concrete information demand, including the document type preference,type of carrier preference, document languages preference and individualized information service demand.(4) User's information behavior:Understanding users to the choice of the information sources and the obtaining channel. Analysing user's information quality whose purpose is verifying its impact on user's information behavior to investigate the information quality of library users of Hebei university at present,so that determine the necessity for users'trainning.(5) User's appraisal on the service quality of library of Hebei university:Through the investigation which provided service of library of Hebei university,to understand the users'appraisal on validity and easy using of serve of Hebei university library, at the same time, measuring its importance and users'satisfaction.Sending the questionnaires is amount to 900, retrieve 785 questionnaires, effective questionnaires is 734. The effective questionnaires account for 94%of the total amount of questionnaires. In order to guarantee the validity of the questionnaires,specially adopt the following method:(1) Fully utilizing the library reading room,study room and other departments have access to readers,granting the questionnaire at random, so as to ensure the authenticity of questionnaire and to improve the recovery rate of questionnaire.(2) In order to facilitate interviewees, to retrieve the questionnaires in time too, granting the answered test paper tool,so that interviewees can complete immediately and the questionnaires be retrieved effectively. While retrieving the questionnaires,carrying on artificial control to ensure the validity of questionnaires. The criteria of judging effective questionnaires all as follows:(1) 1-27 questions are multiple-choice questions demanding to be answered, if the not answering parts amount has exceeded 10%, for exzample 3 questions, the questionnaire is deemed to abolish one.(2) No.28 question, users can choose to answer or give up,so this part has not as the basis for screening.The investigation results indicate that users are mainly college students aged from 18 to 28. Bachelors are the main body of the users of college library because they are big in quantty and spend a lot of time at school; their needs for academic books also ascend besides those of spare time reading. Because of their own studying directions, masters and doctors have particular requirements on the timeliness,recall ratio and forward-looking of information. The colleges in Hebei province have great library collections which can be classified as paper document resources and digital document resources. College libraries need to reasonably allocate document resources,expand the coverage and type of document,emphasize the authority and specialty of document. In the meantime, colleges also need to improve their infrastructure, build more comfortable reading environment and carry out the people-oriented service concept. In addition, expanding service content,upgrading librarians' quality,increasing promotion and publicity,emphasizing user training are problems that need to be solved.In short, this paper is to do the basis with the basic theory of information service, though the questionnaires to investigate the user's information service of Hebei university library and analyse the investigation result,to find characteristic,law,influence factor,question and advantage existing in offering information service of Hebei college library,etc,and summarize its future.In order to improve the information service quality of Hebei college library, making the corresponding data to support.
