As a main component of the CNC(Computer Numerical Control) machine tool, CNC system determined the performance,functions,reliability and cost of the whole CNC machine tool. It's necessary to build a high-grade CNC system, especially a high-speed,high reliability bus between CNC control unit and servo unit in order to realize the excellent performance of a high-grade CNC machine tool, such as high-speed and high-precision machining, as well as multi-channal,multi-axis control and complex processing .In this thesis, IEEE1394 bus and Industry Ethernet bus are applied in the servo control system for CNC machine tool, according to the demands of developing a high-grade CNC machine tool. An IEEE 1394 protocol based 1394 I/O module and an Industry Ethernet protocol based Ethernet front-end module are designed and used as the communication interfaces between servo units of CNC machine tool and the bus. These two communication modules both use DSP chip TMS320F2812 as the core controller. The 1394 I/O module could communicate with 1394 bus through the 1394 chip TSB43AA82 and exchange data with machine tools through the I/O ports of DSP; The Ethernet front-end module could communicate with Ethernet bus through the Ethernet chip AX88783 and exchange data with motion controller through dual-port RAM chip CY7C026A.In this thesis, the IEEE1394 and Ethernet protocol standards are summarized; The hardware design and device drive programming of 1394 I/O module and Ethernet front-end module are introduced in details; Then, a series of function and performance tests of these two communication modules are taken; Finally, the point of merging the IEEE1394 and Etehrnet protocols, and developing a new Industry Ethernet procol which could be specifically used in CNC system is proposed.
